NetWare 4.10 support additive licenses, if we have a 5-user license
file and a 10-user license file, and we install them on the same
server, we get a 15-user version server.
How about the 3.12 counterpart ? Does it support additive licenses ?
There is one more problem: there is no way to remove a license from a
server, unless we reinstall the server. What if we unintentionally
install two servers from the same CD-ROM, which results in a copyright
violation. But we do have two legal server CD-ROM's, do we have any
other choices ?
The license file from Chenyenne ArcServe is quite restrited, too. If
the ArcServe license file is for 5-user, it will not run on a server
that is not exactly 5-user licensed, no more and no less. Is that
reasonable ?
Thanks in advance.

3.12 did not support the additive license. There is a way to remove a license and I think it is from the INSTALL program. If you need the exact steps, I can do it and get back to you. As far as ArcServe is conserned, you are pretty much stuck with the way they do their license. I prefer software that doesn't need to match the user count of the server, especially with 4.1 if you bump up the user count. When I migrated from 3.12 to 4.1, I also switched from ArcServe to Arcada Backup Exec Enterpricese Edition. Does it support additive licenses ? Nope. License is in the SERVER.EXE file, one file, one license. >There is one more problem: there is no way to remove a license from a >server, unless we reinstall the server. Checkt he Install, you can remove or add licenses. > What if we unintentionally >install two servers from the same CD-ROM, which results in a copyright >violation. Since the license is on diskette, you would remove the first license, install the second, then connect to the network again. >The license file from Chenyenne ArcServe is quite restrited, too. That's the way ArcServe chose to run it, take it up with them. Or switch to Arcada, faster, better, easier and one copy per server, no matter how many users on the server. Cheaper too. >Thanks in advance. You're welcome in retrospect... Jeff
