I have bought a few books on Novell 4.1 over the past year. Most I
rate as so so to fair. They repackage whats already stated in Novell
4.1 manuals or water down Novell 4.1 by gearing it toward the CNE
exam. Don't get me wrong, the CNE test, and CNE training books are not
bad, but they fail to give information learned through experiences
using Netware 4.X.

Does anyone in Netland knows of good reference source(s) for various
part of Netware 4.1 (NDS, server console management, 4.1 security, etc)
?

Any help is appreciated.

Try www.mcp.com and look under McMillan Computer Publishing - New Riders Press.
There is supposed to be a high quality 4.1 reference coming this December.

If you browse under New Riders now, you'll see an in-print (Oct or Nov 95)
"4.1 CNE Quick Study Guide" or whatever - that's NOT the book I'm describing.

One of the best that I have found is NDS Troubleshooting by New Riders
Publishing by Peter Kuo & Jim Henderson.

Well, by far I still find the NSEPro (Novell Support Encyclopaedia --
Professional Volume) the most useful in all areas. Beats any of those
books that rephrase what NW manuals tell us. Don't need much else once
you have NSEPro. The NSEPro also contains AppNotes and some of the
selected Novell Research Publications.
