Something similar just happened to me on an Aptiva that had Win98 and on which I installed and only run Aurora now. While trying to logon to a client's exchange server and unable to successfully download the latest bloatware version of ie, I made the less then brilliant decision to try the win98 partition on the Aptiva. In the process of installing the NIC driver under windows, it kept telling me that it was misconfigured and would I like it to configure it . I gave up after several iterations of windoze trying to fix the mess it caused, and when I booted back to Aurora the NIC no longer worked there. Since it was PnP and the configuration so mangled the DOS configuration program nolonger could reset it, I had to take it out and put it into another pc to reset it(that was the DOS apps suggestion). win98 is a piece of crap. No way I'm touching windoze again. Give me Aurora as a client any day.
