You said it, right there. It is the eleventh hour decision that makes the
entire
situation seems very strange. If I were an author and I wrote a book, and
it
didn't sell, then I would not likely write another book using the same
formula attached to the same subject. I would tend to write followups to
books that sold well, using formulas and subjects that have proven to sell
presumeably. So, if the authors of this book, undertook to write a
followup I
would assume that they thought, based on previous experience that it would
sell reasonably well.

The fact that the main author of the book defended the writing of it
only
days before the book was pulled, further reinforces my opinion that
dropping the book due to poor expected sales is hogwash. I wrote a letter
to
Sams, and was very polite and made no threats, and basically let them know
that I really wanted the book. I don't think any amount of e-mail though
will
change the situation because I don't believe the reason given for stopping
the book.

I would also agree with you that in my own personal circle of OS/2
acquaintances that book was the most popular. I don't really know how
these things work, but barring strange circumstances that would disallow
this to happen, I fully expect to say that book in printed under
somebody's
publisihing banner.
