Because:

(1) Of all the technical books that I've puchased, _OS/2 Unleashed_ has
proven to be the most useful one I've seen for any platform,

(2) I think it's been by far the most popular OS/2 book among the OS/2
    people I know, and

(3) I have some real doubts about their statement that the OS/2 book
market is diminishing since almost everyone I know who used to use
OS/2 is STILL using OS/2 and I know a few more users now than I did
last year besides (IOW, it seems we gained a few locally).

Most of those folks were also very likely puchasers of _OS/2 Unleashed_
when it came out. So compared to the Warp 3 version of the book, I see
an increasing number of potential customers in my small world locally.

I also have a tendency to support companies that support my needs, and
to not support companies that ignore my needs or that take actions that
are damaging to my needs or requirements. As far as I can tell, SAMS
is taking an action based on pure speculation which hurts me as a user
of OS/2 and directly results in the removal of a tremendously useful
resource from my reference list here.

I don't mind their decision so much as I do not like the fact that they
made such as decision at the "11th hour", which greatly increases the
negative impact on me. Strangely enough, I had assumed that a former
"international best-seller" would be updated and released.

>They make similar decisions everyday, and you don't hold that against
>them.

Those decisions don't impact me. I'm not aware of too many other books
that SAMS prints, Floyd, and this one is one that historically has been
very popular with the circle of PC hobbyists I run around with.

This decision by SAMS has a huge impact on me and others I know, and I
think that their reasoning is speculative at best.

If they don't want to go through the effort to distribute it, fine, but
make it available via mail order or Indelible Blue or some other means!

         ************* I WANT TO BUY A COPY!!!!! **************

I want to give them money for a copy of the book. And I know *MANY*
people who were looking forward to the next edition as well. Where
SAMS is getting their market trend information from I have no idea...
