Rolan [Macquarie Bank Ltd.] -> comp.os.os2.misc:

An update to OS/2's multimedia capabilities is certainly required, and
if it wasn't a GNU effort, I'd even be willing to pay for it. I wish
OS/2 could just keep up with new proven technologies such as USB cameras etc.
I guess IBM's decision to only provide fixes for Warp is finally having
a negative effect to its usefulness, for me anyway. It's certainly
very disappointing since its the only capability I need that OS/2 doesn't

You can use a camera with Compact Flash and when insert them in a PC Card
adapter in your OS/2 machine if you want (most cameras save as standard jpeg
files on the flash disk) or for example the Sony Mavica who saves directly to
diskettes (or a camera with Win 3.1 software who runs under WinOS2).

support. Win95 has proven extremely unstable and not as robust for
my internet connection, I'll install Win98 and see if this is an improvement.

It's the same (unstable) kernel as Win95, but with some bugs fixed (and some
new added). It won't make any big difference at all (go with NT if you need a
stable system).

I'll keep an eye out for an OS/2 solution to using the Logitech Quickcam
Home (USB) that I will be using, but in the meantime I think I'll make
Windows my default OS in boot manager. :-(

I maybe misunderstood you above regarding cameras (thinking of digital
cameras), or you maybe talked about both. I have heard that it's possible to
get the LPT version of the QuickCam to work in OS/2 IIRC.
