This is similar to a recurring problem I have had in
UltiMail, namely that the folders will disappear. The only sure
way for me to fix it, is to re-boot, but if I can open up large
folders, sometimes I can crash UltiMail, which will allow me to
then re-start the program, and view all the folders. I have
tried many ways to circumvent this problem, but the best
solution so far appears to be to move all the InBox messages to
a different folder before you open them.
If you can't open the InBox after re-booting, it is probably
an INI corruption problem, and I could suggest doing some INI
maintenance, or maybe try running "\tcpip\umail\DESTWPS.CMD",
re-boot, and then run "\tcpip\umail\MAKEWPS.CMD". If you can
open the InBox, but it is empty, and there are actual messages
in "\tcpip\umail\Server\InBox", then you can run :
[E:\tcpip\umail]makeidx ??
IBM UltiMail Index File Builder
-------------------------------
Syntax:
MAKEIDX ? | directory userid [/LOGO | /NOLOGO] [/QUIET | /NOQUIET]
[/DELETE | NODELETE]
directory root directory of the tree for which index files
should be built; all directories under this root
will have an index file built for them
userid userid of user who owns this mailstor directory
LOGO | nologo display initial logo and ask for confirmation
VERBOSE | noverbose type file names as they are processed
DELETE | nodelete delete unburst letters after bursting them
Description:
MAKEIDX, or Make Index builds the necessary index files for
the UltiMail database. Most information in the index files is
automatically recoverable. However, some user specified attributes,
such as user given Folder names are not automatically recovered.
BTW, I am finally abandoning UltiMail after five years, due
to this problem combined with me not wanting to configure
sendmail.uml to allow different smtp and pop addresses to beat
the mail relay impediments, and to change sendmail to allow fast
mail spam and and also the difficulty with configuring UltiMail
for my new systems. I still like the interface the best, but
the problems overtook the advantages.
