No.

I ran into the same thing.  A search on Compuserve found a thread
discussing this problem, so it appears that everyone has it.  One 
user said he backed of the new SOM.DLL and it went away, but 
who knows what else that would affect.  The response from IBM
was something like "If you have this problem be sure to submit a
problem report so we can prioritize it."  Total BS in my opinion--
how many broken applications and out-of-work developers is the
acceptable level before they fix things?

I plan to back off fixpack 17 as soon as I finish backing up my disks.
