I would like to have a utility that would encrypt or put a password on certain word processed files that I have. Does anyone know of a utility that does this? Thanks, Hugh

I don't know *how* secure ZIP's encryption is, but it should be O.K. against casual attack. -- -- Dave S. ********************* Imagine a witty .sig here ***************************

Make sure you have the package "with crypt". Not to be confused with pkunzip - I believe it has a "garble" option which is easily broken (and it isn't free.) I also like Zip Control, a front end to Info-zip which supports the encrypt option. It should make your encrypted archives easier to manage. Alternatively, Phil Zimmermann's Pretty Good Privacy has an option for conventional encryption, but it isn't as easy as using the archiver. It may, however, be more secure.
