Star Wars fans and fans of the Lucasarts Star Wars games, pay attention! Lucasarts has recently announced a little information about some of the new games they will be releasing. X-Wing vs. TIE fighter should be out this winter (I presume for the Christmas season). This will be a Space combat simulation based upon the TIE fighter and X-Wing games. It will allow multiplayer combat, and will probably be the hottest game of 1997. Now, the first thing I did upon hearing this information was to write Lucasarts asking what platform it would run on, DOS or Window 95, and I told them I would not be able to buy it if it was a win95 only game. I asked that the game be developed for DOS and that they be sure to test it under OS/2 Warp. (I don't see them developing a native OS/2 version). The reply I received stated that there was no information available as to which platforms would run the game, or what the requirements would be. Now this is where you come in. Since this game is still 6-7 months away, and is still under (I'm sure) *heavy* development, I think we should be able to influence them a little bit. We probably won't be able to get a native OS/2 version, but I bet we can at least get them to test the DOS version under OS/2. Here is what I ask that you do: 1. Take a few minutes to send Lucasarts an email requesting that they test X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter under OS/2 Warp. (If you want, you can even request an OS/2 version, but I think we should settle for a DOS version that runs under Warp for the time being). The email address for Lucasarts is 75300.454@CompuServe.COM. You can also find a mailto link to this address at the email campaign page (URL in sig). 2. Stop by the email campaign page and sign the petition for X-Wing vs. TIE fighter. This will make it easy for you to let your opinion be heard, and will only take a few seconds. The URL is http://www.andrews.edu/~boyko/email.html. It is also in my sig. I think that we have a pretty good chance of at least getting them to test the game under Warp. I predict that this game will be the most popular game of 1997, and we *will* want to play it! Let's show Lucasarts that we want this game to run under Warp! --- Greg Boyko (boyko@andrews.edu) The Truth Is Out There http://www.andrews.edu/~boyko/index.cgi (homepage) http://www.andrews.edu/~boyko/email.html (OS/2 email campaign page)
