I see many responses, but none of them addressed your real problem, so
I'll give it a shot.

Looking good so far...

Most of the install? IIRC, partitioning is early in the process. BTW,
I agree that it can be a confusing process.

The key words being "according to OS/2 Boot Manager". Linux defines the
partitions by the physical placement on the disk.

Here I think is your problem. You must define where the partition will
mount. And the big thing that I think you are missing, is that the
setup process WILL NOT LET YOU CONTINUE unless you have a ROOT and a
SWAP partition defined. I banged my head aginst this exact problem for
a few hours(on more than 1 installation) before I realized what my
problem was. I suspect your problem is that you haven't made a swap
partition (I see no mention of it). I predict that once you create your
swap partition and define your other partition as root (/), you will be
fine and will be able to install linux with no problem. BTW if you
think the Red Hat installation process is hairy, you should see
Slackware!

Good Luck!
