What I mean is displaying a directory's contents via the WPS - I don't hope that the WPS tries to execute each and any file that sits in a folder that it displays :-). If that directory, or in WPS speak, that folder, contains self-extracting Win32 files, the folder contents are displayed, but while icons for the files are appearing on the screen, the harddisk goes crazy and doesn't stop until memory of about the file size has been consumened. Nothing happens on the screen during that time (in particular, no error messages, and no trap info is written to popuplog.os2). Finally, when the disk stops grinding, the Win32 executable - rather its symbol :-) - is displayed with is embedded icon, and memory usage drops to normal. By the way, I have no problems with normal Win32 executables crashing the system if I erronously try executing them (by double click on its icon or hitting enter - yes, I do know that the default action of the WPS is to execute executables...). They just produce an error message about incorrect Win32 version, or DOS fault something, and that's it. I find it amazing that noone else is seeing this, I'm not aware of anything unusual about my configuration, and I recall having seen this for a long time. It's the same here... I just write it off to MS weirdness and forget about it... at least until I download the next win32 only .exe file:) Jack Troughton ICQ:7494149 http://207.253.224.232:8000/ jack.troughton at videotron.ca jaft at adan.kingston.net Montral PQ Canada
