BTW: I could get the OMNI-Driver to print quite well with changing a couple 
of settings (this was with my Canon, before the new driver was released).
Might be the case for Deskjets, too.

I think I remember programs like RLab and Octave that claim to be Matlab
compatible. They use Gnuplot as a graphics frontend.
I dunno Tecplot, though.
