I have a IBM PS/Value point with OS/2 2.1 loaded as the only
operating system. There is a problem with the boot sector because error
messages "sys02025" and "sys02027" came up every time I turn the machine
on. I can not get anywhere from there. I was able to break in using a
DOS boot diskette because I'm using the FAT file system. I can see all the
files and directories that way but I can not access them through OS/2. I
tried "fdisk /mbr" through DOS. I also tried booting up using OS/2
installation
diskette, escaping to a prompt, issuing command "sysinstx c:". None of the
above worked. When I did "chkdsk", I got an "data reading (CRC) error". I'll
hate to reformat the hard drive and reload all the software again. Installing
OS/2 with all those wonderful communication packages is not my favorite thing
to do. All the data is still on the hard drive except that the boot sector is
corrupted. I wonder if there is a way for me to recover the hard drive
without reformating it. I'd appreciate it if anyone has any suggestions about
what I should do.
