I'm running Warp 4 and all of a sudden about 2 weeks ago, shut down stopped working. Now when I select "shut down" from the system menu OR click the shutdown icon on WarpCentre NOTHING HAPPENS. I have had to resort to using CTRL-ALT-DEL in order to shut down with the result that changes to my Desktop are lost on reboot. Can someone please help with this problem? Email responses preferred. Thanks. -- George Wiley, University of South Australia, Adelaide, Australia.

Usually with Warp 3 since I use it most often (I was too lazy to re-install everything under Warp 4 <g>) As far as I can tell the problem occurs only when I've been using NS/2. And it's not every time I use NS/2, but I believe that is the culprit since I can see it is still a running process. Not in the list box to show running programs, but with FM2's kill process utility. By the way, Kill Process cannot, but Alt+Ctrl+Del works every time. Steve Ames [e-mail address is ames001@ibm.net] [Reply to address above is faked to deter spam]

I've been having this problem after running NS/2. Basically, the entire
Warpcenter freezes up and doesn't work. I can get a clean shutdown by doing
CTRL-ALT-DEL, or by activating Watchcat and running shutdown from there. It
is most annoying, and I am not at all sure what to do to fix this outside of
removing NS/2 (which would cause my kids to kill me).

I think you will find this is caused by the Windoze plugin support for Netscape/2. It has caused me so much grief I removed it.

Hope they'll fix it. Stefan If you have a copy of FM/2, run the Process Killer. You will see that NS/2 _sometimes_ leaves a process running.... which you cannot kill. This causes the problems with shutting down. It also causes NS/2 to crash and lock up my system if I try to invoke it again. Remove ".nospam" to reply. Hello George, Did you install any new software, or run any new programs just prior to this happening? Also do you have the line "SET RESTARTOBJECT=STARUPFOLDERSONLY" in your config.sys? If not I would suggest adding it. This tells OS/2 only start what is in the startup folder and run STARTUP.CMD. If you do not have this OS/2 will restart everything that was running when it was shutdown. Some tasks will not terminate when OS/2 askes them to, this it what happens when you do SHUTDOWN. But OS/2 will kill them when you hit alt-ctl-del. Good Luck, John G.

Did you install LAN requester? I have to type at OS/2 prompt NET STOP REQUESTER before shut down.
