Hi all. Last weekend I installed Warp 4 over Warp 3/FP23. I'm very impressed.

The system;

Octek Hippo DCA-11 Dynamicache motherboard
16MB RAM (8MB dynamicache RAM, 8MB DRAM)
85MB W-D Caviar 280 as C: (Dos Drive), FAT.
540MB Seagate as D: (OS2) and E: (Data), both HPFS.
Hercules Stingray Pro VL-bus video card (1MB).
Generic VL-bus I/O card, 2x16550 serial card (4 ports total).

I don't have a CD-ROM so I was forced to make the 56 installation disks (!!)
on the machine at work. I ignored the 44 bonus pack disks.

I installed directly over Warp 3 using advanced install and de-selected every-
thing I didn't need. I ended up with more disk space than with Warp 3. All the
Warp 3 IAK stuff still works with the WPS classes correctly registered without
any intervention from me. The new WPS FTP works perfectly as well.

I have a couple of DOS comms programs which I still run for Amateur Packet
Radio and these still run fine. All the Win-OS/2 support works and I've had no
crashes or hangs since it was installed (and, yes, I have tried). I didn't even
uninstall OD 1.5. That and PC EE.4 work fine also.

Multitasking generally seems a lot smoother and video performance is definitely
faster. BTW, there's no updated video driver for the Stingray Pro so I'm using
the Warp 3 drivers dated 1995. They installed without a hitch and have caused
no problems.

The performance increase alone has made the upgrade worthwhile IMHO. The
increase in stability and the new-look user interface are bonuses.

Well Done IBM. Now, if only they could learn to sell it properly...;-).

Cheers,
Rod.
