SB16 Problem with High DMA setting....

Hi!

I just bought a SB16 card and have installed it under OS/2 Beta II and
DOS/Windows. It appears my motherboard does not support the card through
High DMA channels 5+, but according to the SB16 docs you can just use
the low dma channel for 16 bit sound.

Anyway, under DOS and Windows this works fine and I can play 16 bit sounds
as well as 8 bit sounds.

Under OS/2 I can only play 8 bit sounds. If I have the high DMA channel
set to the same channel as the low DMA (or any other low <5 channel), when I
play a 16 bit sound I either get very scratchy sound followed by OS/2 crawling
(even though the swapper has not grown to enormous size) - so I have to reboot,
OR OS/2 just reboots by itself.

Has anyone encountered this problem? Can anyone make any suggestions?
As I said, it works fine under DOS/Windows and works for 8-bit under OS/2.

Some details:

The Sound driver is SB16 driver version 2.34

My settings are:

Card: 1
DMA (8-bit): 1
DMA (16-bit): 1
IRQ: 5
I/O: 220
MPU: 330
Buffer size: 8

the device lines are:

DEVICE=D:\mmos2\sb16d2.sys 1 1 1 5 220 8 /N:SBAud1$
DEVICE=D:\mmos2\AUDIOVDD.SYS SBAud1$

I have tried using DMA (16-bit) = 5 etc (ie higher channels). In this case
I get no sound on 16 bit samples....but OS/2 does not reboot itself or crawl.

Does this mean I can't use 16-bit sound under OS/2?

PLEASE HELP!

Any ideas/assistance appreciated.

Jamie
