A friend of mine is looking for information about video scan converters. He needs to track down one or two external devices (no software) that will convert SVGA and/or XGA to video. The same device does not have to support SVGA and XGA, but between the two devices, both formats should be supported. Resolutions up to 1024x768 should be handled. He has called some companies and has gotten the following prices: Digital Vision TelevEyes Pro $ 799 PC Video Conversion Corp. HyperConverter $ 1,595 Chromatek 9120 $21,000 He is concerned about the price spread here. Is there is a large difference in the video quality, or is there some other difference that lets Chromatek charge so much? Any information from someone who has actually seen one of these in action (or another product supporting SVGA and/or XGA) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, - Oliver (christ@cps.msu.edu)
