I don't have your card (mine is the 3c509Combi) but I suspect that the
card has been configured to use a fixed allocation of network type.
AIUI, when originally delivered, these cards are in an auto-sensing mode,
and will use whichever of 10baseT, 10base2 or AUI is actually connected.
But some driver software will reconfigure them to use permanently
whatever is found connected.
I had the problem with the cards which I bought (second-hand); I had to
run the 3C5X9CFG.EXE porgran under raw DOS to reconfigure each card
properly --- since when I've had no problems. I suggest you look for the
equivalent program for your cards, probably at the 3COM web site. (In my
case, incidentally, I *wanted* to use the RJ-11 connections for the
10baseT, and discovered that the BNC outlets had been configured
instead. I would guess you have the opposite problem.)
