I am trying to set up a parallel cable network between my desktop & laptop.
After days of experimenting, my main problem is that during boot-up I get the
message "A value specified in PROTOCOL.INI is not valid.
IOPORT = 888 (0x378)
A failure during initialization has occurred"
0x378 is the address of the lpt port I am using (with irq 7).
The protocol.ini file is created by the MPTS program and writes the line that
the bombs out !!!!
Any help suggestions etc. would be appreciated.
(The really frustrating thing is that a similar process took 15 minutes to
parallel connect 2 win95 machines. Sometimes I wonder why I bother with os/2
aaarrrggghhhhh !!!!! )
TIA
