I just installed the OS/2 Netware requester on a machine containing a 3COM 3C509 and a 3COM 3C509B network card. The machine is a turnkey system running OS/2 2.1. It functions, among other things, as a nondedicated LAN Server server. The first card is being used for LAN Server. The second card is being used to connect as a client on the customer's Novell network in order to print to a shared printer. I ran 3COM's configuration utility to give the cards unique IRQ's and IO addresses. The first card uses 10 and 300, and the second uses 15 and 280. c:\ibmcom\protocol.ini has been modified with the IOADDRESS keyword to inform LAPS of the IO addresses of the cards. The system starts up ok. However, at about the time that our application on another machine connects to a named pipe on this machine, this machine locks up so that only a hard reset can be done. The screen goes blank, and the string "TR" appears in the upper left corner of the screen. It looks like it's trying to report a trap but can't even gasp it out. Possible clue (?): When LAPS was run to configure the second network card, it complained on exit that it could not write to c:\config.sys. I could not determine why. I checked the file with ATTRIB and only the archive bit was set. I even copied the file, deleted the original, and renamed the new one back to config.sys. It still complained. Eventually it stopped complaining, but I wonder if something that it needed never made it. When I installed the Netware client, I did not install named pipe support. (I mention this in case there is a potential conflict when both Netware and LAN Server try to implement named pipes.) Eventually, I commented out all the Netware related device drivers in config.sys and the trap no longer occurred. Can anyone help here? What happened? Thanks for any help. If on a novell newsgroup, pls respond via email if possible. - Keith -- -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Keith Bennett Bennett Business Solutions, Inc.
