Multicast addressing?

I have an application which will need to send identical messages to a
potentially large number of clients (hundreds) on a LAN, and I'm
interested in saving bandwidth. I know the underlying carrier
supports broadcast and multicast transmissions, but is there any
network API for addressing a message to multiple destinations?

OS/2 2.0 will do for me until AmigaDOS for the 386 comes along...
