I just installed the new 2.1 Requester from my Novell server, as indicated in the INSTRU.TXT. This is the *sweetest* install I've ever had the pleasure of performing. I've got FTP's TCPIP for OS/2 1.3 running along with NWR, so I expected to have to reconfigure a lot of things. I forced myself to just do a straight, by the instruction manual install. I didn't look at the configuration files afterward, I just shut down and rebooted. It came up like a champ - the only error message during boot was about ODINSUP.SYS not being loaded. This worried me a bit, but it's apparently because the new Requester is doing something different with ODINSUP. My old ODINSUP.SYS is still where it was, it's just not being loaded. However, I am currently connected to three mainframes and logged into a Novell file server as I write this. The only tweak in CONFIG.SYS was putting the C:\NETWARE directory in front of the C:\PCTCP directory so I could execute the Novell login as the default. That's it. The Requester goes out and auto-detects everything you've got configured. It merely asks you to re-confirm that you still want things as they were. It even ships with the driver for my SMC card (thank you, Novell). For the record, while there is a menu choice for installing ODINSUP, I didn't choose it during installation. I wanted to see what would happen with the absolute minimum thought. What happens is, it works - really, really well. If the product is as good as the installation program, I'm a happy camper.
