I am trying to run the System Performance Monitor on a workstation functioning as a server on a Lan Server 3.0 network. All machines here are running OS/2 2.1 GA with only the workplace shell patch. I create the configuration successfully, but when I go to start it, I get the following errors: SPM 0147: SPMISTRT: File C:\SPM2V2\2NDTRY.LOG verified but collection may not have been started ch SPM 0162: SPMISTRT: API return code 1 function code 20 function return code 29 SPM 0224: SPMILOG: Unable to locate SPMILOG Instance Area for C:\SPM2V2\2NDTRY.LOG When I consulted the .INF, I got the following more detailed explanations of the errors: [SPM 0147:] File %1 verified but collection may not have started - check SPMSNAP.ERR for more information. The .LOG file specified in the start command meets basic structure and content requirements. An SPMILOG was started but has not signaled that it initialized successfully. The SPMILOG may or may not have started successfully. If the SPMILOG has failed there will be additional diagnostic messages in the SPMSNAP.ERR file. The PSTAT command may be used to determine if SPMILOG.EXE is running. The user interface will indicate the status of SPMILOG. [SPM 0162:] API return code %1 function code %2 function return code %3. The return code and function code from the SPM/2 API for a previously indicated error is being supplied for diagnostic purposes. Evaluate the error in light of the function and return codes. [SPM 0224:] Unable to locate SPMILOG instance area for %1. Extremely busy system has prevented the SPMILOG from accessing its shared storage. Try restarting the SPMILOG. --- I have tried this on two different workstations connected together on the network; a server and a client. I get the same errors. When I click to Query available workstations, the program appears to hang. Is there a network problem? I only need the server to monitor itself. That is, although it is a server running Lan Server, I don't need to do any remote monitoring. Can anyone help me identify or fix this problem? Thanks for your help. - Keith -- -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Keith Bennett Bennett Business Solutions, Inc.
