But I would not expect IBM to be doing this and it's out of IBM's target scans. Several years ago it may have sounded more feasible. Right now, IBM appears to be doing a Hot Java user interface on top of OS/2, that is, a user interface based on Java. It can purely be a more restricted browser type interface, or it can be WPS based on Java, or something called the Lotus Desktop, which I think is a Java based desktop that will be developed by Lotus. (One advantage OS/2 has for IBM is being that it is IBM's own, IBM is free to tinker with it.) > >I'd gladly pay double or more for a decent OS/2 GUI system. PM seems like >it's become old and more sluggish every single time I use it. > Are you using Warp v4 with a decent accelerator card? In my Matrox Millenium and Cyrix P166+, everything flies. No GUI is perfect for me. When I sit down on one, I can easily see faults in one or another, and I also see some nice feature in one GUI that I wish to see on the other. I see advantages in X but I don't see any reason why it is better all around than WPS. Rgds, Chris "Devant le comportement irrationnel de sa machine, j'ai compris que se poser en dfenseur de Windows releve de la plus profonde bassesse. J'ai honte" --- Eric Bernatchez, "La Presse" newspaper, "Cyberpresse" column, March 22, 1997, Montreal, Canada. "Confronted with his machines irrational behaviour, it dawned upon me that taking the position of Windows advocate is of the lowest possible ethics. I am ashamed". ***crobato@kuentos.guam.net***
