I am about to start using the collection class libraries that come with Visual Age C++ instead of C-style arrays, and would like to ask some advice. I have used collection classes a little with Borland C++ and Objective C, so I understand much of the basic functionality. What I want to do with it is use a simple queue or array with iterators or cursors. It will be used in a continuously running turnkey product at many customer's sites, so reliability is extremely important. How would you rate the IBM Collection Class Library in the following ways?: 1) Reliability of the code (bugs or memory leaks?) 2) Ease of learning (quality of documentation, example files, etc.) 3) Do I need to learn and use other parts of IBM's class libraries to use the collection classes? 4) Is the Rogue Wave library much better than the IBM library? (I like the idea of portability, but portability alone is not quite enough to motivate my client to use a different library.) Are there any other alternatives I should be considering?) 5) How compliant is the IBM library with future (STL?) standards? 6) The machine doing the release compile is running CSet, not Visual Age C++. How compatible are the collection classes of those 2 versions? If you would be willing to respond by phone, and you call me, I will get your number and call you back (US & Canada only!) Thanks very much for your help. - Keith Bennett (703) 941-3206 -- -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Keith Bennett Bennett Business Solutions, Inc.
