Exit Processing on Traps?

I have an app that until a recent fix trapped and died under certain
conditions.  (It was a heap related error.)  The trap was not a trap
that halted the entire system, it just trapped that process.

Is there any way to register an exit function that would do cleanup
(especially release any mutex semaphores owned) before exiting from
such a trap?
