No experience with any of these. I've been more than happy with the support I've found on the usenet groups. Where else can you talk to the guys that write this stuff so easily? :) > >2) What are some recommended patches, upgrades, kluges, etc. to tidy up >OS/2 2.0, PM Toolkit 2.1, and MSC 6.0? What are other recommended >development applications? I would definately install the CSD for OS/2 right after installing the base package. It clears up a lot of the niggling little problems that had been floating around. You'll also _have_ to install some patches to get MSC to work under OS/2. If you want a really nice PM IDE to develop in, IBM's C Set/2 is nice. Alternatively, you could wait for Borland C++ for OS/2, which is rumored to be released to the general public RSN. (It's in the Early Experience Program now...basically a pay-to-beta-test thing.) >3) Here are a couple of sample questions that we are looking to answer: > > How does one use cvp to debug a Presentation Manager > application? Anything that tries to access the 386/486 debug registers directly will crash the system neatly. OS/2 just doesn't like that. You could avoid using hardware breakpoints, or you could use IPMD, the PM debugger that comes with either C Set or the Toolkit (don't remember which right off hand). It has the added advantage of allowing you to watch window messages ala Turbo Debugger fer Windoze. > Why when changing a file or folder name on the OS/2 2.0 > desktop does it often take several attempts to actually > complete the change? Never had the problem...How are you doing it? ALT-leftclick? Setting notebook? Command line? Good luck in your quest... :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Steve Luzynski @ Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH sal8@po.cwru.edu | voice calls cheerlessly accepted at x2153. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- happy people are deluding themselves that there is nothing wrong. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- bored? try this: call your significant other and say 'i hate you. i never want to talk to or see you again.' fun, wasn't it?
