I think the end-of-queue driver takes metafiles and translates them to printer lingo. I had a printer problem and traced out a lot of this - try double-clicking on a job icon in the queue; it comes up in the metafile viewer. The hard work is done at the end; hence the problem. If the printer driver code ever gets pried loose from wherever I hope we can all start writing ps drivers, fax drivers, and so forth. I like the in-box ps driver; I never liked the printer-as-computer concept.
