About this contract stuff, I was not doing business with IBM and a
contract requires a two way situation with each side receiving some
substantial consideration. This was not the case. I merely asked
for something that I had no reason to think could *not* be delivered
and was told "sure." I was not buying anything. Had that been the
case a contract would have been in order. As for a lawsuit, I have
neither the means nor the proof to attempt such a thing even if I
was litigous which I am not.

Yes, I certainly was naive in not covering my ass better. Guilty as
charged. I should at the very least have asked for a letter of
intent. That probably would have exposed the real situation much
sooner as well as giving me some possible means of seeking redress.
I say possible, not probable.

Again, as I said in my own followup I do not blame IBM as a company for
this or even the person that gave me the assurance. I am sure that it
was as inconceivable to that person as it was to me what the situation
really was. I wonder how many of my critics would have suspected it.
Hindsight is 20/20. As I said, shit happens. When I posted originally,
which I wish I hadn't, I was simply enraged and venting my spleen.

I have received several calls and much email asking my opinion on
whether the DAP is a good program and I wish to say in public without
reservation that it is. They offered me much assistance including
considerable free marketing help. I still strongly criticize the
pricing of their development tools but that is the only general
criticism I have.

Peace,

Bob
