In my case I was attempting to : install Linux from a CDROM that had a kernel version of 1.2.2. A little checking : in Linux news groups confirmed that there were some problems with logical : partitions in early kernel versions. I got 'boot' and 'root' disks from a Linux : ftp site that had kernel version 1.2.8, and I was able to see all partitions : correctly. I have since bought the Slackware 2.3 Linux CDROM (dated July 1995) : which has kernel 1.2.8 The July Slackware also has a problem in the fdisk that comes with the cd-rom. (informix stuffed up, not slackware to my knowledge). Any way, download a new boot disk (color144 etc) and all should be right in the world. Andrew Artlett
