David, you may want to try the scsiscan from danmar systems.  Check out 
the HP www page for this option. I was able to have them send me the 
drivers online and the disks later.  It is an os/2 driver that works well 
for me on the 4p... but you do have to buy it.  Compared to the 4p price 
it wasn't significant extra $$'s.
