Configuring large SCSI drives
#17

I have a Toshiba 1950CT notebook and an external Fujitsu 3GB external hard
drive. I connect them with either an Adaptec SlimSCSI or the IBM PCMCIA
SCSI controller card. I don't know who or what did the original
cyl/track/sector configuration on the drive or the original low level
format. I use both OS/2 Warp and DOS 5/Windows 3.1 on my system.

If I configure the partitions with Adaptec EZ SCSI, OS/2 can not find the
drive or any of the partitions. If I partition under Warp/fdisk I can
create partitions which are recognizable to DOS/Windows.

Under Warp, I can only create FAT partitions in the first 1GB. Attempting
to go higher gives the message "Partition is above 2GB or past 1023
cylinders" The problem is obviously the latter. I would like to be able
to have as much of the drive usable to both systems as possible.

What do I need to reconfigure the cyl/trk/sector configuration? If I
increase sectors/track, I should be able to make more of the disk FATable.
What is the limit here?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.
