IBM IDE drive problem

I have cloned my warp installation from a 2GB IBM IDE drive to a 6.3GB
drive. Recently I have had an intermittant problem (the worst kind!)
Every once in a while when I log onto my E (data) partition I get a
sudden high pitched noise from the computer box itself. The CPU meter
goes up to about 50% (an AMD K6 233) everything predictably runs very
slowly, and I am unable to display the drive contents with any GUI
based viewer (Object Navigator, Warpcentre) A commandline dir command
will display the partition contents normally. The only way to return
things to normal is to reboot. Anyone know what is happening? Perhaps
coincidentally I have begun getting a trap d from running fdisk too.

Regards

Michael Block
