Hi. Is there an FAQ for IBM Dualstor for OS/2 v3.0 backup program anywhere? IBM support is devious imho - their 24x7 1-800 help center number listed in the user guide makes you jump through multiple phone menus until at last it states that service is only available monday through friday during office hours and that it will cost $35. For a damn $55 dollar backup program!!? grrr......... Dualstor's IP22DRV.SYS driver is unable to recognize my venerable Irwin Accutrak A250E (external model) attached to my floppy controller cabling via a 4251 external interface board. This is surprising because this setup works fine for Conner Backup Exec 3.2 (a .1 "bugfix" upgrade to Irwin's EzTape/PM 3.1 after Conner bought Irwin). And Dualstor is supposed to be the modern "successor" to the EzTape/PMtape clones. I wanted to "upgrade" in order to take advantage of the "Standalone Restore" utility Irwin/Conner never bothered to add to EzTape and also Dualstor works with a greater variety of products, which will be nice should I replace the old Irwin with a larger capacity unit. I plan to make major upgrades to this here PC and Dualstor was part of my strategy. Any ideas? (yes, I tried renaming and using the Conner driver). When I add the debug display parm to the driver, the display does seem to indicate that it knows about the 4251 board, but when it tries to interface with the unit at bootup time, the "B" floppy lights up and grinds - apparently it thinks my second floppy should be the tape drive. I guess I wouldn't miss the 5.25" floppy drive much anymore if I removed it - but would that solve my problem? And why should I have to, if EzTape could find it? I would really like to see an FAQ that documented the switches that could be applied to the driver, and other installation information. jr With Windows 95, perception is reality. With OS/2 Warp, reality is impressive. JRutherford@connect.com
