I'm about to do away with my ATI GU+ video card and am looking for something that is fast with good OS/2 support, but that will cost me less than one of ATI's Mach64 cards (at $250, they're a bit much for hacking about with at home). I am looking for a VL-Bus card capable of running 1280x1024 non-interlaced at at least 60 Hz, 256 colours or better (i.e. 2 Meg Ram or more), with excellent OS/2 drivers. I don't care about WinOS/2 support since I don't use it. Also, it must be capable of running at 40 MHz (I'm told that some VL-Bus cards don't run reliably above 33 MHz). Above all, it must be faster (and have better drivers) than the ATI Mach32 cards, otherwise it would be a waste of money. Do any of the S3 or (ugh) Diamond cards qualify? Suggestions?
