OS/2 Installation Problems on ALR machines

I've been unable to install SE 1.2 on an ALR Flexcache 25386DT.
The video board is a VEGA VGA, set up for an NEC2A monitor.
The installation dies with an internal trap at or during the
formatting of the hard drive.  Anyone experience like problems?
