ls-120 installation with floppymax controller

Well, I did it. The price got RIGHT, us$40. I bought a LS-120 internal
drive and put it in my PP200 with Epox mb and Award 4.51 (12-31-96) bios.
Attached the drive alone as master to the primary IDE controller. I have
a 4G IDE drive attached as master to the secondary IDE controller and
another scsi 4G attached to an Adaptec 2940uw with a tape drive and a
CD.

The LS-120 worked correctly, read/wite/formate/chkdsk, etc. BUT, I was
unable to boot from it. In OS/2 (Warp 4 fp8) it assumed drive A, but in
DOS/windoz it took the next available drive letter.

To this point I have done everything correctly, I believe. I determined
that the BIOS supported the LS-120 drive but NOT BOOTING from it. Infor-
mation available from newsgroups thru DejaNews indicated as solution,
install a FLOPPYMAX controller from Promise Tech.

Followed the directions. Set boot sequence to A, C, SCSI. Disabled
both floppy drives in CMOS, also floppy drive detection. Assigned IRQ-10
to ISA-Legacy.
        set: basedevice=ibm1s506.add /v /w /a:2 /p:168 /irq=10 /u:0 /t:5
                basedev=ibmatapi.flt
(these are from the idedasd.exe dated 10-13-98).

Now DOS/windoz will boot and the drive assumes A, but if I boot to OS/2,
my almost exclusive op sys, I have no FLOPPY, A or B, drive. I cannot
access the LS-120 at all.

3 hours of reboots with every parameter tried for ibm1s506.add that I can
find documented and the only gain is the bald patch atop my head and the
pile of hair on the floor.

Any and all help and/or suggestions will be gratefully accepted.
