I don't know if this will help, but I started getting that error also about
eight months ago when an installation of the DCF/2 demo from the IBM software
site trashed my Warp installation. Couldm't reinstall OS/2 directly as I kept
getting the "OS2krnl not acceptible" message when trying to use installation
diskettes. Finally has to back up all my data and reformat the partition.
(Luckily the problem did not affect the use of my utility diskettes.) Then OS/2 reinstalled without difficulty.

This was also enough of a mess to finally persuade me to use separate OS and
data partitions. But that's another story ...

Good luck.
