Hello --

As a relatively new user to OS/2 I am having some problems that I
was hoping someone out their could help me with. I just recently
purchased a high speed modem (Zoom 14.4 V.32bis modem). I am
using Telix as a communications package and have setup the DOS
settings as OS/2 recommends. My problem is as follows, whenever
I attempt to download from a local bulletin board my entire system
will crash at sometime during the dl. I mean the entire thing will
lock up. Even if I leave the program in full screen mode and don't
touch the system. I have tried every setting I can think of and have
installed the new service pack. If anyone has any ideas about this I
would appreciate a response.

            Thanks alot...

                       Joshua Chessman

Joshua, Is it an internal or an external modem?? If EXTERNAL, does your
I/O card as a 16500anf (I think that's the latest) UART chip?g

As for the settings, the major onesare COM_HOLD ON and BAckground ON...
There are a few more, but I'm not at my computer at the moment (just
showing a friend the system and taking the time for a short reply...),
so I can;t have a look at mine... Sorry, hope this help a bit.

Old MacDonald had a computer, with EIA I/O...

As an aside, I have heard (unsubstantiated) that telix 3.15 has problems
with fast modems but that 3.12 works OK.
