PLUG will meet on Monday 27th July at 6:30PM in the University Computer Club (UCC), UWA, Nedlands, for a problem-solving session and installfest. In particular, our SAMBA presenter will be here, along with several members who operate ISP sites. This is a golden opportunity to bring along an old 486 box and have it set up for free as a low-cost firewall and/or file-and-print server (and Web, FTP, Name, IRC, SQL etc etc server, if you like). Such systems can also be useful for reducing network traffic to heavily loaded NT security servers. Bring your self, your machine, your problem, and a dollar or two for snacks. The UCC can supply Jolt from it's online Coke machine. There is a map at: http://www.general.uwa.edu.au/support//disability/maps/ The UCC is at map reference F6, in the bottom left corner of the largest blob. There is also a virtual tour at: http://www.ucc.gu.uwa.edu.au/~james/virtual-tour/guild-tavern/tavern-corner-west.html If you have a paper street directory, UCC is opposite the two jetties about halfway down Hackett Drive. Telephone enquiries (including navigation on the day) can be made on 0411-655-020.
