HP ScanJet 2CX: Replacement or Alternative Drivers?

This scanjet 2 driver is FUNKEY! It doesn't memorize your sharpening
settings and requires you to exit it each time to deliver the image
to the calling app. This really slows stuff down when you want to
scan a bacth of stuff.

Does anyone make a faster driver or an app that supports the scanner
directly (I run it under ASPI on my main Adaptec 2940 SCSI channel)?

And I think I am using the 2.2 version of the driver. I have
downloaded the 2.3 driver (I think those are the current version #'s).
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE CURRENT DRIVER and the PREVIOUS
version? Speed? Features?. Please... do share.

And, what are the best utilities for doing a paperless office
scanning and filing process. Any shareware? Or is it all commercial
software? Any recommendations would be great. Thanks

-Andrew
