Actually, we wash them out with hot water all the time...  A dishwasher would 
make the whole thing soooo much easier.  As long as it's not a "temp boosting"
type, the water is only going to be as hot as tap water gets... about 120-150
degrees.  That won't damage a keyboard.  I certainly would not put any 
detergent in it though... that stuff is VERY corrosive.
