This is NOT true.

DC600A tapes will be written in 120MB (QIC-120) format. The drive can READ
data written in 30 and 60MB format, however, it will write on 60MB tapes
with a capacity of 120MB (I don't know about the 30MB format; it may not be
able to write on those; I've never tried it).

The Archive 2150S will read:

30MB
60MB (DC600A tapes)
120MB (DC600A tapes written on a QIC-120 drive or another 2150S)
150MB (DC6150 tapes)
250MB (DC6250 tapes)

It will write:

120MB (QIC120 format on DC600A tapes)
150MB (DC6150 tapes, QIC150)
250MB (DC6250 tapes, identical to QIC150 but on extended length media)

All this is from first-hand experience with the drive over a space of nearly
seven years. It is still going strong; one of the best pieces of hardware I
have ever owned.
