I don't have the resource kit >alas. You are far better using the manual method, uptomp is extremely unreliable, even if you update the SP after using uptomp and before reboot. Problem with uptomp is that if it fails then you're knackered. Whereas the manual method is extremely reliable IME. It involves installing a primitive copy of NT to another folder, expanding the SP files of the actual copy of NT and then changing the hal.dll, win2ksys, ntoskrnl and some others manually to avoid share violations. The good thing about it is that, if you screw up, you've still got the primitive copy of NT to boot into so you can fix things. I've never failed with the manual method out of 4 boxes. I will email you 2 articles that I wrote that explain how to do this and reference the relevant Knowledge Base articles. The news articles pertain to upgrading a single CPU motherboard to a dual CPU but the principle is the same. Get the KB articles and the two posts and read them a couple of times and you'll see how it works. You'll want the halmps.dll from you SP level as hal.dll In the unlikely event that any other poor souls want the articles, they should be on Deja and are: Newsgroups: demon.tech.pc Subject: NT woes - LONG Date: Sat, 18 Mar 2000 17:14:41 +0000 Message-ID: <XhynZ9BBm704EwJX@saska.co.uk> Newsgroups: demon.tech.pc Subject: Re: uptomp SMP upgrade Date: Tue, 2 May 2000 21:41:30 +0100 Message-ID: <1$JxH7A61zD5EwRL@saska.co.uk> -- Tony
