We have a fair number of Macs being used as terminals to our
Ultrix/uVaxen, a Laserwriter/transcript setup on one uVax. I see
snippets of stuff re: Kinetics boxes and CAP software but
I am not clear how it all works.
My specific questions:
Theoretical & practical limits for number of nodes & distance
of an Appletalk network.
Form net access would take from a Mac on Appletalk thru a gateway.
(ie: user friendly vs consultant intensive) and can you go both
ways?
Overhead on Vax, if any
Printer sharing/spooling?
Cost, support, usefulness (I am convinced just by the idea),
testimonials etc.
I apologize for asking for what is probably common knowledge but
will be glad to summarize if anyone would like.
Thanks in advance,
Hurf Sheldon
