TO: Wengyik Yeong FROM: Wayne Davison SUBJECT: Z39.50 The Type-1 query in Z39.50 is nothing more than a straight forward use of RPN. The fact that something is recursive does not make it unimplementable. And there are indeed several existing implementations of the Type-1 query. If you have uncovered a defect in the description of the Type-1 query, I strongly encourage you to communicate it, along with any proposed remedy, to the editor of Z39.50, Mr. Ray Denenberg at the Library of Congress. He can be reached through BB.RAY@RLG.STANFORD.EDU. You might also communicate with Ms. Sally McCallum of the Library of Congress, who has over all responsibility for this work within NISO. She can be reached through BB.SHM@RLG.STANFORD.EDU.
