   Dr. Pawan Kumar is a leading environmentalist with over 18 year of
experience in  the areas of  
   environmental research and implementation projects. He has been involved
in initiatives such as: \
   Forestry  Tribal welfare, Silviculture, Wild life, Soil Conservation,
Land Use Planning,  etc.  During his 
   career, Dr. Kumar has published over 36 papers in international journals
and has been a frequent 
   speaker at conferences in the area of environment.  Dr. Kumar played a
key role in major initiatives for 
   the Government of India during the last 12 years and has been constantly
appreciated for his insight, 
   knowledge and analysis on the environmental issues.

    (1990 to Present)

   Performed active monitoring of R&R works with World Bank reviews.

   Formulated proposal for Narmada River Basin Development Project
including components of 
   rehabilitation and resettlement closely associated with monitoring of
environmental safeguard measures 
   such as catchment area treatment, reforestation, conservation of flora &
fauna, water quality, and public 
   health etc.

   Conducted impact assessment of  water resources development projects  in
 Narmada river basin for the  
   last 5+ years.

   Produced research reports needed by domestic and international offices
on various environmental issues.

2. Senior Assistant Professor and Head of the Forest Management Department,
Birsa Agricultural           
    University, India 
    (1981 to 1990)

   Tought M.Sc/B.Sc Forestry students.

   Conducted research and Extension work .

   Organized practical training on various aspects of restoration of
vegetal cover, land use planning, soil  
   conservation techniques, agro-forestry,  social forestry  silvipostoral 
systems,  afforestation, 
   reforestation techniques and allied fields to B.Sc, Forestry students in
different  forest types of Bihar, 
   Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Jammu & Kashmir, etc. 

   Conducted Researches on Tissue-culture, Seri-culture, Spacing trials,
Energy-plantations, Fertilizer-
   applications, Soil-improvement, Cellular-biology, Neuro-endocrinology,
Ecology and  Environment, etc.

   Worked in five adapted villages of District of Ranchi for implementation
of extension  programs of 
   Indian Council of Agricultural Research.

   Organized farmer's fair (mass communication) for transfer of technology
under lab-to-land program.

    Conducted research and submitted D. Phil Thesis at the University of
Allahabad, India

    (University of Allahabad follows the pattern of Oxford University
London to awards D.Phil) 

    As a part of the program also achieved a two year diploma in French.
