wanted: router/event-driven examples (X.25/X.PC)

I was wondering if there were some examples of developing
message/packet router. The project involves a embedded system and
uses X.PC (async version of X.25) for data communications. Although
I've had a fair amount of experience in async communications, but wasn't
sure how to handle virtual sessions. I assume it would need to be
event driven to handle error recovery. Another area to consider is
the method used to establish a session with a task. The following
diagram outlines what I had in mind.

       task1 task2 taskN
         | | |
         +--------+--------+
                  |
                router
                  |
                 X.PC

I know this setup is straight forward. I have primarily developed
application programs that receive, process, and send data. This
multitasking system is somewhat new for me and was looking for some
ideas or examples. Any recommendations, source code examples, books,
or other information would be appreciated.
