I have finally had my fill of Kermit's inefficient file transfer protocol. Is there anything better out there (something with sliding windows, speed-dependent packet sizing, etc) for transferring files over a dialup connection (which, alas, is not and can not be a SLIP connection)? Are he Xmodem, Ymodem, Zmodem protocols more advanced than Kermit? I'm dealing with two UNIX boxes, so portability should not be much of an issue (I'll port if necessary, its THAT bad!). Any help would be much appreciated!!!! -- -frank (fhd@panix.com)
